Dear World is storytelling process where colleagues, strangers and friends learn about each other through their portraits. It's a tool used by some of the top companies in the world to learn about their people in a unique way.
Our work has been published in over 30 countries, and Oprah.com said, "Some of the photographs suggest an untold story that gives your spine a shiver."
Dear World has photographed Nobel Peace prize winner Muhammad Yunus, Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon and Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees. They have worked with several CEOs of Fortune 500 companies as well including Pacific Life, UBS and Accenture.
We use a portion of their revenues to underwrite and produce projects around the world, which document people with incredible stories to share. Dear World traveled to Joplin, Missouri, the site of an EF tornado that killed 160 and Breezy Point, New York, where a 6-alarm fire destroyed 111 homes during Hurricane Sandy, and to the world's second largest refugee camp in Jordan which now houses over 150,000 Syrians. A favorite field project seen by millions was with Boston marathon bombing survivors.
At Dear World, our team works closely with companies and organizations who recognize that when colleagues know more about each other and the people they serve, the work improves. Our process began simply, to ask a person to share a message about something or to someone they care about.
Dear World will send one of our speakers to deliver a keynote to your attendees. The keynote is designed to inspire attendees as well as catalyze the portrait process in their minds. In this portion of the program we share the stories of the incredible people we've met from all over the world. From a former NFL football player who now battles ALS, to an 11-year-old Syrian refugee, these stories add context to the Dear World process.
If applicable, community storytellers (pre-identified attendees who have been photographed and coached) will join the speaker on stage to share their message with their picture on the screen behind them. This portion of the program will help model the types of stories and messages we are trying to capture.
What's a story only you can tell? This is a part of our call to action from the stage in Act 1. In Act 2, our facilitation allows for more attendees to dig deeper into the story they want to share through their portraits. Our Dear World facilitator will work with your attendees to get to the heart of their own unique story. They will be guided to find a message to write on their skin that is more than a broad statement. Their message will become a phrase that leads to deeper conversations about their personal story, which leads to stronger connections.
Immediately following the facilitation, the attendees will get their portraits taken. The photography team can be scaled up or down depending on how many people are in attendance. A single Dear World photographer can take 60 portraits per hour or 1 person a minute. We will work with your team to identify the best process and location for the shoot.
RAPID ON SITE PORTRAIT EDIT
We edit the portraits on site and will work with the event production and audio visual teams to deliver the pictures in a timely manner for a closing slide show.
Dear World's keynote speaker will return to stage the next day for reflection on the stories we heard from attendees throughout the event.
Then they will invite each of the community storytellers to the stage to share the story behind their portrait. With their portrait on the screen behind them, this portion of the program provides a model on how to share your own unique story with colleagues in the future.
Then we will show the slide show of all of the attendees.
Two weeks after the event, the final digital files will be delivered via a private and secure website/link that will represent all the stories and messages beautifully. The attendees will be able to download and share their messages with their families, coworkers, colleagues and friends. The Dear World experience is unique to every event. We will work directly with your planning and logistics team to identify the right places and opportunities to execute this scope of work.

Watch Tunisia, a sales representative at Deltek a company we worked in early 2017. Tunisia delivered this story after we found her in the opening photo shoot the night before. After a 30 minute workshop and a 30 minute rehearsal she hit the stage in front of 500 of her colleagues alongside two other community storytellers.
Every attendee gets their portrait to download for free. They may also purchase as wholesale cost a print.
